The surfing season has kicked off in Phuket for 2015!
National surf professionals have flocked to Kata Beach to celebrate the Quicksilver annual opening of the surf season in Phuket.
In an effort to change 'low season' to 'surf season', the annual surf event was held 3 months early to let keen surfers know that now is the time to ride the waves in Phuket. “I think it’s been a pretty well kept secret the last five years about how good the surf actually is in Phuket during the monsoon season,” Paul Hutson, Quicksilver Indonesia chief executive officer, told the Phuket Gazette.
The celebration has also been tied in with the re-opening of the RE KA TA surf school. The Thailand surf champion of 2013, Jimmy Smith, will be on site at the school throughout the surf season.
Local and international surfers have already been hitting the waves of the southwest monsoon for several weeks now, confirming that now is a great time to visit this beautiful part of the world.
Boathouse General Manager Marie-Laure Fleury has said “For this year’s surf season, we are very excited to be collaborating once again with the legendary surf brand Quiksilver in launching the Quiksilver/RE KA TA surf school, which is open to hotel guests, as well as all surf enthusiasts in Thailand, from now until the end of October".
Boathouse by Montara is calling all keen surfers, ameteur surfers and pro surfers to head to Kata Beach and take advantage of the consistent swell from now until the end of October!
